Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
This policy explains what Demiao Chen, a sole trader trading as “Clipory” (“Clipory”, “we”, “us”), does with personal data on the clipory.app website (the “Site”) and in the Clipory application for macOS (the “App”).
The short version: your clipboard history stays on your Mac — we never see it. The App has no account, no analytics, and no tracking. The only data we handle is what is technically needed to deliver updates, validate licenses, process purchases, and read feedback you choose to send.
1. Your clipboard history stays on your Mac
Everything you copy — text, links, images, files, colours — and everything the App derives from it (OCR text, previews, pins, notes, collections) is stored in an encrypted local database on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else. We have no copy, no access, and no way to recover it; deleting the App or its history is permanent.
2. What the App sends, and why
The App connects to the network for exactly two purposes:
- Software updates. The App periodically checks dl.clipory.app for a newer version (you can turn this off in Settings → About). The request carries the App’s version and the standard metadata of any web request, such as your IP address. We use it only to serve the right update — not to identify or profile you.
- License activation. When you activate a paid license, the App sends your license key and a device identifier to our licensing service to validate the purchase and count activations. License state is stored locally in the macOS Keychain.
The App contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no account system.
3. Purchases
Purchases are processed by our merchant of record, Polar Software Inc. (“Polar”). Polar collects what a purchase requires — your name, email address, billing country, and payment details — under its own privacy policy. We receive the order details (your email address and the issued license) so we can deliver and support your license; we never see your payment card.
4. The Site
The Site is static and is hosted on Cloudflare, whose infrastructure keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses) to serve and protect the Site. We run no advertising or cross-site trackers. Your language and theme preferences are stored only in your own browser.
5. Feedback
If you send us feedback — by email, or through the feedback form on this Site — we keep the message together with any name and email address you include, and use an email address only to reply to you. Submissions are kept while they are useful for improving Clipory and then deleted.
6. Retention
We keep order and license records for as long as your license is valid and as required for tax and accounting law. Feedback is kept as described above. Server logs are retained briefly by our hosting provider. We do not sell personal data, and we share it only with the processors named in this policy (Polar, Cloudflare) as needed to run Clipory, or where the law requires.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and the Australian Privacy Principles), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Email us at support@clipory.app and we will respond. For data collected by Polar during a purchase, you can also contact Polar directly.
8. Children
The Site and the App are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy as Clipory evolves — for example, if a future version adds an optional sync feature, this policy will describe it before you can turn it on. The current version is always on this page, with its “Last updated” date.
